Secularism – the common Verbal fashion of every Indian

In India, secularism appears to be a topic for getting media bytes. Everybody seems to be master of this word as long as verbal efforts are required. Nobody seems to understand the meaning or keen enough to practice it.

Secularism does not mean to being above hindu or muslim sect, it is beyond being Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain or any other faith or believes. Secularism asks you to be human first, religion comes second.

We hear politician discussing Secularism of Gnadhi, Nehru, Jinnah, Patel etc etc….. and love to pass statements after statements just to be in lime light and misguide the still 50% uneducated public to gain some silly but important political benefits.

Why there are news of Stone Pelting on the procession of Godess Durga in some cities like Gorakhpur, Bahraich, Basti etc of Uttar Pradesh during festival season of Dussera and Durga Puja ? Why these so called literate politicians and leaders are not urging people to behave properly and respect others’ religion.

Why Secularism get only lip service, why we don’t adopt it in letter and spirit ?

Religious Symbol

Every body is very particular about his religion and faith. To a good extent for ages religion has been and once again become a bonding force for communities. People have become less tolerant about their religion and other aspect related to it.

To some extent use of veil, Burqua, Purdah, Hizab or naqab was ok in earlier times when society was not so developed and freedom to women was not a normal rule. Even the frequent wars between different groups were another reason to promote purdah so safeguard women from enemies.

Leave the women there is strong lobbying in US to allow turban and beard for Sikhs in Army. I feel that in present times people should be allowed to use their symbols of religion freely as long as they are not triggering trouble to others and society in general.

Superstition – More Urban less Rural

The daily news of Fake BABA JI duping crores of rupees from makes me wonder how these things are happening in our urban centers. Have people in metros and other cities have become so restless because of daily stress of life? Can’t they believe on their own strengths and have faith in GOD?
Why they need services of these so call BABAJI for solving problems of life. Why people of rural areas are considered backward just for their faith in local temples or places of worships whereas their counterparts in big cities feel ashamed to be visible at temples etc but they love to visit these CHAMTAKARI BABAJI anyday.
These thugs are making use of people’s problem in extorting money from them and enjoying their lives like kings. They do not believe in any one religion they target population at large for them all humans are same irrespective of their religion. They may be Hindu, Muslim, Christians, Sikhs etc.
